I’m Athena! I was born and raised in sunny California, along with my two younger siblings. My parents, originally from the Philippines, are passionate about traveling— so I grew up taking road trips to national parks across the US, hiking, biking, RV camping, swimming competitively, and scuba diving!
My love for traveling started at an early age, we have a family tradition of “surprise destination” trips, which have taken us to places like Fiji, the Maldives, Austria, Switzerland.. the list goes on!
Immersing into other cultures, making friends along the way, and creating the best memories with my family is what I love most.
In my free time you can find me at the beach surfing + swimming, teaching yoga in Santa Barbara, biking along the coast, running around with the kiddos I look after, or anything that has me soaking up the sunshine!

What she found out, so you don’t have to
Athena applied for her own Kenya eTA before anyone else on the crew, then wrote it up for the team. As of October 2026:
- There is no way to upload a travel insurance policy you already have.
- The portal makes you buy Kenya’s inbound travel insurance first ($44, plus a $1 fee). It is tied to your passport number.
- Then you pay for the eTA itself ($35).
- Two emails come back: the approved eTA, and proof of the insurance. The eTA doesn’t show the cover, so bring the insurance proof with you separately.
