Outposts for Your Inner Rewilding
Our over-plugged lives have reached peak saturation: As we move from screen to screen, longingly stealing glances out the window, our spirits sag. The Global Wellness Institute has predicted that 2025 will not just be a year of digital detox, but digital rejection.

Restorative travel prioritizes meaningful connections — not just with the place, but also with ourselves. In the spirit of spring renewal, we’ve gathered four of our favorite Outposts that prioritize quieting the mind — while still making time for epic adventures.
Cambodia: Jungle Bathing Without Limits
Shinta Mani Wild
You literally drop into Shinta Mani via a Tarzan-style arrival on a 400-meter zipline through the Cardamom forest (don’t worry, there’s a land option as well). Gin and tonics await while howler monkeys provide the soundtrack to this Outpost that is both wildly over the top and calmly subdued and secluded.
Fifteen canvas tents perch over a rushing river, a romantic design inspired by Bill Bensley’s imaginings of what it could have been like when Jackie Kennedy traveled the country to meet King Sihanouk in 1967. The chef and spa staff take advantage of the bounty that surrounds, using hyper-local ingredients for meals and treatments.

Tanzania: Spa-fari on the Swahili Coast
The Zanzibar Archipelago once lured adventurers, seafarers, and traders from far and wide, and it still has traces of Islamic, Swahili, and Southern Asian influences. At the tail-end of a classic safari, we encourage you to sea-fari at exclusive Mnemba Island, surrounded by pristine coral reefs. Unpack in your solar-powered banda, meditate, swim with seahorses, and realize why we love the East African coast so much.

India: Ancient Yogic Wisdom for Healing in the Himalayas
India is a sensory adventure, full of vibrant sights, pungent scents, pulsing beats, and breathtaking big cats. But the country is also the birthplace of the 3,000-year-old practice of Ayurveda, which focuses on balancing the mind, body, and spirit. Wake up amongst ethereal Sal trees (Vana means “forest” in Sanskrit). The outside world will be stripped away — even down to the clothes and accessories you bring. Instead, you’ll be provided collarless kurtas. Digital detox is encouraged. Somatic and psychological healing — and the way they work together — are the focus.

Kenya: Equine Therapy in the Bush
Wild beasts and steady steeds don’t exactly conjure peacefulness, unless you’re at the Borana Conservancy. Resting at the foot of Mount Kenya, the Conservancy’s Outpost — one of Africa’s most beloved lodges — is surrounded by elephant herds, lion prides, and a copious amount of solitary black rhinos. The latter in particular is a success story after making a huge comeback in the region.
When the Dyer family first came to the area generations ago, horses were the only means of transport, and they carry the tradition. Take it from us: It’s hard to beat riding through the bush on horseback. From farm-to-table breakfasts to a luxurious infinity pool, this serene space will rejuvenate you and make you feel humble amongst predators.
