What is a life well lived? It’s a question we often ponder. The slow flow of the holiday season gives us time to reflect on the past, look forward to where we are headed and dream about the next big adventure out there.
Not just travel adventures, but life adventures, ones that challenge in ways that mean so much, marriage, children, buying a new home, moving, and spending time with family and loved ones. All of these life events have to some degree impacted our team this year and we are forever grateful for this kind, generous, wonderful, funny, intelligent, and adaptable group of individuals who make up our UNCHARTED™ family and enrich our lives and the lives of our guests and partners worldwide.
After several years of disruptions, Chip and I returned to Kenya, where it all began for us some 30 years ago. The changes were profound on many levels, with stunning new boutique hotels, and a thriving art, culinary, and music scene in Nairobi. As well as new camps, lodges, and experiences throughout the country. But it was the warm and welcoming homecoming, old friendships, and endless banter, that made this trip so special for us.
Our collection of timeless camps and lodges started with a handful of five Bush Homes of East Africa™, all owner-run properties. Today, the original owners’ children are now all grown up and running the show with kids of their own, and our collection has grown to span the globe, but the same level of soul lives on in our UNCHARTED OUTPOSTS™ collection.
Our favorite part of every trip is when we hear from you, our guests, and travelers, telling us how your trip impacted you in such a way that it will hold a deeper sense of purpose and meaning forever. So please, keep writing to us, don’t be shy! We love your feedback; it brightens our days and makes us better at what we do!
